My daughter must be growing up. She’s just turned six and for the past two years, she’s been obsessed with Frozen. I’ve lost count on the number of times she’s dressed up as Elsa when she’s had a play date with her friends. However, in the past month she seems to have moved on to My Little Pony and Frozen has moved down the list!
In terms of characters from Frozen (yes I do know them), Olaf the snowman is my favourite. He’s a funny character and all the adults and kids were laughing at him when we saw Frozen 2 in the cinema. It got me thinking about what other snowman names there are from movies and elsewhere. Here is a list for you to peruse including traditional, funny and cute names. You can use these directly or to get the creative juices flowing and create your own snowman name. I just hope where you are you get enough snow in the winter months for your children to make one (here in London we don’t get much).

Snowman names from movies
How many films have you seen (either with or without your kids) which have snowmen in them? Here are a few which I’m sure you’ve come across:
- Jack Frost (Jack Frost)
- Frosty The Snowman (Frosty The Snowman)
- Marshmallow (Frozen)
- Olaf (Frozen)
- The Abominable Snowman (The Abominable Snowman – probably not one to watch with your kids!)
- The Bumble (Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer: The Movie)
- Everest (Abominable)
My favourite movie with a snowman character is Raymond Briggs’ The Snowman. Although there is no dialogue, it’s a wonderful and magical Christmas film. I think I’ve watched it every year and now my daughter has also seen it a couple of times.
Do snowmen need names?
If you’re lucky enough to have a white Christmas or you have particularly cold winters with heavy snow, your children will definitely want to make a snowman or two in your backyard. Once you’ve added a carrot for the nose, some pieces of coal for the eyes, buttons and a hat, for kids it’s going to feel like they’ve made a person. So why not give it a name? It adds to the magic of Christmas and it’s a fun activity to do outside.
